Positively Allegan exists to provide entertainment, adventure, and fun in the City of Allegan!
Formed as a 501(c)(3) non-profit in August of 2015, Positively Allegan is made up of a nine member board of appointed Allegan community members, and two City of Allegan staff members (the Promotions Coordinator and the Promotions Assistant.)
Positively Allegan is host to several year-round events that take place in Downtown Allegan:
Girls Night Out
We start the spring season on the last Friday of April with a night of extended shopping hours in Downtown Allegan and a chance to win fabulous gift basket prizes donated by generous area businesses.
Rollin' on the River
Rollin' on the River is a weekly, Friday night concert series held on the Riverfront Stage beginning the second Friday of June and ending on the last Friday of August. Each concert featured high-octane performers from the surrounding West Michigan area spanning rock, folk, blues, country, R&B, and other genres. The free 5pm-8pm event offers two hours of live music and food and alcoholic beverages available for purchase throughout.
Bridgefest is a community festival that has been celebrating Allegan’s Old Iron Bridge and the start of summer since the mid-1980s. The all-day event features activities for kids and adults, music and entertainment, food and beverages, fireworks, and more on the second Saturday of June.
July 3 Jubilee
Celebrate the birth of the country with this patriotic community festival featuring a parade, food, live music, activities, and fireworks on the 3rd of July.
Good Times at the Gazebo
Good Times at the Gazebo celebrates its 30th year in 2018 by continuing the free Saturday night concerts at Mahan Park during July and August. The free 7pm-9pm series offers a quieter counterpart to Rollin’ on the River by featuring acoustic, folk, country, jazz, and blues acts.
Harvest Moon Festival
The Harvest Moon Festival is a two-day seasonal celebration of all things autumnal on the first Friday and Saturday of October. Friday night kicks off the festivities with Ghouls Night Out - a spooky play on the spring's Girls Night Out - and Saturday consists of family-friendly Halloween activities like hay rides, bobbing for apples, a pumpkin run , and more during the day, and more macabre fun for the adults in the evening.
Festive Fridays offer extended shopping hours every Friday in December before Christmas, coupled with free horse-drawn wagon rides, free hot chocolate, free "Fa La La Fridays" movies at the Regent Theatre, and visits with Santa! Additionally, each week features a different Downtown-wide event like Art Hop hosted by the Allegan Area Arts Council, a holiday parade, and Stocking Hop.
Ring in the New Year on the Allegan Riverfront with Michigan's largest New Years Eve ball drop! In addition to the LED ball drop from the 60' foot zipline tower on the Riverfront, the annual outdoor NYE! event includes food, hot beverages and beer, music, activities, and massive firepits to keep event goers warm all night long. And don't forget fireworks at the stroke of midnight!
